The Seoul Herstory House, a space to share women’s history, will be open to the public.
The Seoul Herstory House comprises two buildings and is located in Changsin-dong, Jongno-gu. The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) started its pilot operation in November last year as a historical and cultural space to discover and promote the lives of unknown women who worked in diverse fields through the exhibition of their works and documents.
Visitors can gain information by exploring the bookstacks, accessing the learning spaces (e.g. lecture room, theater), and exploring the exhibition hall of women’s history. The Seoul Herstory House offers classes on women’s history for children as well as special lectures on women’s history, women-related film screenings, and exhibitions of documents related to women’s history all year round.
A special exhibition “The Seoul Herstory House, opens with Plum Blossoms” will take place and symbolically show the spirit of the Seoul Herstory House with newly born femininity through the exhibition of works featuring plum blossoms by female artist Lee Dong-won.
Admission is free to the public through prior reservations. The Seoul Herstory House is open from 10 AM to 6 PM, and visitors can stay inside for 30 minutes. The special exhibition celebrating the opening of the Seoul Herstory House will be held until Fri, Jul. 30.
